Welcome everyone to my website promoting my self-published book titled No Ghost.
I started writing No Ghost back in September 2014 after picking up writing as a serious hobby. At the time, I didn't know what type of story it would become. The end-goal I had in mind was to create a story which depicts layers of human destruction across the spectrum of life. I wanted to write a story capturing a visceral depiction of this behavior through a serial killer as the protagonist. The first draft was finished summer 2015. I would continue to refine my prose overtime before finally completing No Ghost in May of 2017. I took the final manuscript and self-published my first paperback copy through Lulu.
At the time, I had only self-promoted minimally, assuming the world would immediately pick up on the book. None of this panned out and I had ceased this promotional effort.
I reapproached the self-promotion beginning 2025. I was motivated by the fact that I worked so hard on writing this novel and it deserved attention from the world. In May 2025, I hosted my very first book promotion event at my local flea market here in Arlington, Virginia. I created a display depicting various scenes from the book. This time, my goal was localized promotion. I was no longer concerned with exporting my work across the internet. It felt more important to actually interact with people in person when promoting No Ghost. It felt much more personal and meaningful with this approach.
The purpose of this site is to offer more behind-the-scenes for No Ghost, so that others may feel a deeper connection with the lifespan this book has established.
Saldivar Shammah was born in Houston, Texas. Served both in the Navy and Army, he has traveled to various places throughout the world. Currently residing in Arlington, Virginia, Sal continues to link up with the local writing communities. When not writing, he enjoys language learning and kayaking whenever he can. Though writing dark subject matter, Sal manages to keep positivity and sanity for his life.
